I've noticed that several of my favorite programs are named after an animal or have an animal for their mascot. Does the software community have a secret link to the Animal Kingdom?

For starters there's Firefox, Thunderbird, Azureus (a frog), edonkey, and Phoenix. There's also Firebird and Adium (A duck for a mascot). Then there's Growl, an opensource system wide notification system. Apple throws their hat into the Ring with Safari, while having neither an animal name or an animal mascot, you do take a safari to see (or kill) animals.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that my Dock is starting to get crowded... and looks awhole lot like a zoo.
